LaDainian Tomlinson in the open down field

LaDainain Tomlinson "LT" RB #21 has run down field offering a decoy, while the ball is being thrown to and successfully caught by the receiver at the top of the picture, just above LT's head in the picture.

Again LT has run down field and the ball was successfully completed to another receiver down field.
Above LT is in the open down field catching a pass. This is a nightmare for the opposing defense.

How many times does LT running into the backfield of the defense to open up the WR's will it take for defenders to begin to leave LT alone. Even in Mini Camp that has happened as you can see by these pictures and it only took about three completions down field to WR's.

Leaving LT open in the backfield is not a wise decision by a defense. If Mini Camp is any indication of things to come, then expect LT to be used as a receiver down field even more this year than last. Because LT saw plenty of action running in the backfield of the defense, both as a decoy to help open up the WR's down field and then as a receiver himself.
